Östermalms Saluhall

I do have a thing for indoor market places - mostly not so much or at least not only for the food but rather the special atmosphere and intriguing architecture of those places.
In September I explored Street Food Thursday at famous Markthalle Neun in Berlin Kreuzberg and today's Sunday Travel shall share some pictures from the Östermalms Saluhall in Stockholm: a beautiful indoor market with wooden stalls where you feel like a time traveller back in the 19th century.

This month I walked part of the South West Coast Path in Great Britain and one of my last stops was the beautiful village of Swanage (Dorset), where, after an exhausting day and a couple of miles more than my feet and shoulders could possibly bare, I found some strength left in me to explore the streets only to come across this extraordinary piece of streetart: I loved this "illusion of reality", where the building's past, present and future coincide in a piece of art that, literally, opened up a new view on these otherwise half ruinous walls.

my last visit to a christmas market this year:

the famous Gendarmenmarkt christmas market looks nice and fancy

- note the disco ball hanging from the concert hall -

 I have to say, though, I prefer cosier and cheaper ones

(such as the "Rixdorfer Weihnachtsmarkt" which only takes place at one weekend)

time travel

 Yesterday my trip to Vancouver last year came back to my mind,

and I remembered how, back then, I almost physically sensed the tension 

between the anonymous urban areas inside the city 

and the wild nature of the outside world surrounding it - 

almost like an anachronistic clash between a future dystopian and an ancient utopian world. 

(the spring season's stormy weather certainly intensified that impression)
