Östermalms Saluhall

I do have a thing for indoor market places - mostly not so much or at least not only for the food but rather the special atmosphere and intriguing architecture of those places.
In September I explored Street Food Thursday at famous Markthalle Neun in Berlin Kreuzberg and today's Sunday Travel shall share some pictures from the Östermalms Saluhall in Stockholm: a beautiful indoor market with wooden stalls where you feel like a time traveller back in the 19th century.

On Sunday the famous Festival of Lights came to an end.

For the past two weeks famous buildings have been 'virtually wallpapered' all over the city - with colorful projections, motifs of famous paintings and accompanied by thoughts of artists and sounds of musicians.

The Berlin Cathedral certainly wore the strangest outfits with flowers and the pattern of cabbage amongst them. (Here you can listen to the colorful sounds of the Berlin Cathedral)

The Hotel de Rome went for something more conventional and rather displayed the Old Masters.

Meanwhile the Potsdamer Platz buildings exhibited a selection of Modern Art from Piet Mondrian and Pablo Picasso to Andy Warhol.

Only the Fernsehturm, I thought, looked a little more beautiful the previous year.

These days I have been to the Photography Playground at the old 'Opernwerkstätten' building in Berlin Mitte.

The playground is a free exhibit that invites the amateur photographer to experiment with "Space and Art".

You explore twelve rooms each designed by another artist with a broad thematic and sensory range: light and sound draw a synaesthetic panorama that evokes an intense atmosphere and different sensations whereever you go.
