U5 Schillingstraße

These posts and pics of Berlin underground stations develop a life of their own (they should form some sort of series soon): recently I went to Schillingstraße on the U 5 - a station whose design with its series of historical photographies reminded me of Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz (U2). The station is usually fairly empty as it is only one stop away from Alexanderplatz. It thus allows for having a quiet look around, comparing nowadays' Berlin with its younger, black and white (underground) versions.

A number of famous locations with a long historical tradition of their own await you when leaving the station: amongst them the well-known Café Moskau and the very special Kino International, one of my favourite cinemas in Berlin.
