sunday travel

As much as I enjoy seeing Berlin through the eyes of a traveler, I love traveling the world with the eyes of an explorer: wandering new places and wondering what their stories are leaves endless colourful imprints in my memory and on my camera.

Occasionally I have already posted some of them (urban sights beyond Berlin). Recently, however, I thought they deserve a place of their own, and why not on a regular basis on the very day of the week that is open to relaxation, inspiration and curiosity more than any other? The category Sunday travel thus collects pictures and memories of urban sights I encounter(ed) on my travels in Europe and beyond.

My prefered travel mode: all means of overland transportation as slow as my own feet and as fast as trains or, for that matter, ships. For, they allow your mind to travel at the same pace as your body does - which planes never do, I found (apart from the fact that I really, really don't like flying in planes and helicopters of any sort - gliders being an exception). And although I haven't made it around the world in this way yet, I got at least as far as Ireland, Spain, Croatia and, almost (long story...), Russia.

Countries traveled: Germany, Russia, UK, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, France, Spain, Croatia, Czech Republic, Poland, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands, Hungary, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, USA, Canada, Tunesia

Currently on my bucket list: Ukraine, the Transsiberian Railway, Slovenia, Slovakia, Romania, Estonia, Georgia, Turkey
