Recently I listened to Verdi's Otello at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
Aside from the great music and the singers' incredible performance,
what I liked most was the impressive stage decoration (see a picture here).

For everyone who would love to go to concerts, operas and theatre stagings
in Berlin more often but lives on a budget (and is 30 or younger):
get a classic card and if you are lucky you watch your next opera from the first row for just ten Euros.
