Last weekend I have been to the island of Usedom at the German Baltic coast
where the above sign promised "catching sun at Usedom"
which the daylong snowstorm revealed as a true euphemism.
The cold weather produced some fascinating ice sculptures
and hardly anyone dared to leave the house
- so I had the icy beach all to myself.
