Chorin

Yesterday I spent a beautiful fall Sun-day at Kloster Chorin, a former Cistercian abbey close to Berlin. During the summer months they offer all sorts of concerts and cultural events (the cheap version to listen to them is to bring a blanket and sit outside behind the abbey).
Parts of the ruin (the roof and the church) are under construction at the moment, which does not disturb the visit very much though.
They offer very interesting tours around the different buildings given by widely informed locals. Our guide was a very friendly lady that was a specialist in history. She frequently quoted funny sayings of old medieval scriptures, one of which described the wine from the Brandenburg area as a sour liquid that "passes through your throat like a saw".
Many of the abbey's preserved rooms are part of a nice little museum walk that prooved to be very informative in itself.
